ใครหงุดหงิด กับการติดตั้ง Firefox แบบง่ายๆ บน Ubuntu

จริงๆแล้วการติดตั้ง Firefox บน Ubuntu มันก็มีอยู่หลายๆแบบแตกต่างกันไปเช่น

ติดตั้งผ่าน Ubuntu Software Center
ติดตั้งผ่าน Terminal
ติดตั้งโดยดาวโหลดไฟล์ Tar.gz หรือ Tar
ติดตั้งโดย Dep Package


แต่อยู่มาวันหนึ่ง Ubuntu เจ้านายมีปัญหา คือมันไม่ยอมอ่าน Font บน โปรแกรม ERP  ขึ้นมา
เมื่อวานมันจะเปิดเห็นเป็นตัวอักษรดีๆ อยู่เลย  แต่วันนี้พอเปิดดูหน้า ERP กลับเป็นตัวหนังสือ
ที่ว่าเปล่า มองไม่เห็นตัวอักษรอะไรเลย

แต่พอลองไปเปิดกับ Chrome กลับเปิดได้ดีไม่มีผิดเพี้ยน

ซ้ำนั้นเจ้าตัวโปรแกรม Adobe Reader กลับไม่สามารถเปิดให้เห็นรายงานเป็นตัวอักษร
ใดๆได้ เราก็พาลคิดไปว่า อาจเป็นเพราะโปรแกรมเมอร์ ERP เค้าเปลี่ยน Font แบบอื่นๆ
มาให้หรือเปล่า คอม Ubuntu มันเลยมองไม่เห็น Font ที่ควรจะเห็น

แต่ที่แน่นอน เราก็ไม่พลาดที่จะไปลองเปิดดูบน Window ดู  และเมื่อลองเปิดดูมันก็เปิด ERP
ได้เป็นปกติ ทั้ง Chrom ,Firefox ,IE

ดังนั้นก็คงไม่มีปัญหาที่อื่นแล้วแหละ ก็เลยเดาไปว่า เป็นที่ตัวโปรแกรม Firefox มันเก่า หรือ
Font ใน Ubuntu มันไม่มีที่ตรงกับบน Software ERP ที่เค้าทำไว้ให้

ครานี้ก็เลยต้องพยายาม Remote (ลืมบอกไปว่าต้องรีโมท ข้ามจังหวัด จากนนท์ ไปเชียงใหม่)
เน็ตก็ช้ามาก Remote โดยใช้ Teamviewer นะครับ



ขั้นตอนการติดตั้งเนียะ ผมว่าง่าย มากเลยนะครับ แต่ก่อนหน้านั้นผมก็ไม่รู้หรอก ว่ามันจะทำ
ได้ขนาดไหน เพราะมัวแต่คิดว่า Command line (คอมมานด์ลาย) อย่างเดียวแน่นอน
ซึ่งหลายๆคน เขย็ดขยาด กันเลยครับถ้าต้องพิมพ์คำสั่งบน Linux เพื่อติดตั้ง Firefox

เอาหละขั้นตอนการติดตั้งง่ายๆ ก็มีดังนี้

1. ทำการดาวโหลด Firefox หน้าเว็บปกติลงมา
2. ทำการแตกไฟล์คลิกขวาบน Ubuntu แล้วแตกไฟล์ TAR
   หรือจะแตกบนคอมมานด์ไลน์ก็แล้วแต่ แต่ว่าถ้าบนอูบันตูเค้าสามารถแตก
   ไฟล์ประเภท Zip หรือ TAR อยู่แล้ว ไม่ต้องไปพิมพ์คำสั่งอะไรให้ยุ่งยาก บางคน
   มัวไปยุ่งแต่ว่าจะแตกบน คอมมานด์ไลน์ อย่างไร สุดท้ายก็งงเอง แล้วทำไม่ได้
   
3. นำโฟเดอร์ที่แตกออกมาแล้วไปใส่ไว้ใน /Opt (ก๊อปปี้ไปใส่ในนี้ท้้งโฟล์เดอร์เลยคับ)
4. เสร็จแล้วให้สร้าง Shortcut คลิกขวา Create link ใน Folder แล้วลากไอคอนลงมา
   บน Desktop ของ Ubuntu ก็น่าจะใช้ได้ หรือ ถ้าใช้ไม่ได้ก็สร้าง Luncher แทนก็ได้คับ

A. Install Firefox 20 in 5 easy steps

1. Download

Download the release from the official channels page:
www.mozilla.com/firefox/channels/
A 64 bit build is also available in the x86_64 directory of Mozilla's FTP.

This how-to supposes that the downloaded file is saved in the “Downloads” directory situated in your home directory.

2. Extract

The downloaded file is a compressed .tar.bz2 archive. In case you want to Learn more on these extensions: tar, bzip2. To extract this juicy archive, open the Downloads directory. Look for a file named firefox-20.0.tar.bz2, right-click on it and select “extract here”.

Alternatively, you can extract the archive from the command line:
cd ~/Downloads/
tar xjf firefox-20.0.tar.bz2

For those interested, here are the tar arguments used in the command:
x : eXtract
j : deal with bzipped file
f : read from a file (rather than a tape device)

The firefox-20.0.tar.bz2 archive can now be deleted.

3. Move to /opt

External programs like LibreOffice, Google Chrome, Adobe reader, ... are all installed in the /opt directory. If you want more info about why /opt, check out these two links:

If you already had a previous Firefox version installed in the /opt directory, remove it with the following command:
sudo rm -r /opt/firefox

Now move the firefox directory (which was created in your Downloads folder during extraction) to /opt:
sudo mv firefox /opt/firefox20

4. Set up symbolic links

Depending on you usage pattern, follow the instructions for case 1 OR for
